Great football - it's a Pittsburgh thing.

From the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:

Local stars enshrined in Pro Football Hall of Fame

Amid all the fanfare, Jack Butler delivered a simple, to-the-point speech in taking his place along with five others in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night.

Butler, who spent nine years with the Steelers, was enshrined along with former Steelers center Dermontti Dawson and two former Pitt stars, defensive end Chris Doleman and running back Curtis Martin.

Seattle defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy and New Orleans offensive tackle Willie Roaf rounded out the Class of 2012.

Butler’s speech resembled his style of play during a nine-year career highlighted by 52 interceptions and countless jaw-jarring blows. It wasn’t complicated. It was direct but well-received by appreciative fans, some wearing his No.80 throwback jersey.

Butler, who spent nearly 40 years as director of the BLESTO scouting combine, thanked his family and friends, but mostly his wife, Bernadette, for encouraging him after he surprisingly made the Steelers’ roster in 1951.

“I have been very fortunate and have lot to be thankful for,” Butler said. “I was born with a talent to play football. I was fortunate to play in the great city of champions – Pittsburgh, Pa.

“I never envisioned being here in Canton. This induction is the highest honor I’ve achieved in my professional career. I’m happy to have spent 50 years in a sport I love. I’m honored to be included with these great players.”

Raymond Berry, a Hall of Fame receiver, remembered some memorable battles with Butler.

“He had great instincts for the football,” Berry said. “So many players tried to emulate him. He had great instincts for the ball. He was one of the best I had ever seen.”

Butler insisted on the eve of his induction that he wouldn’t choke up – that he wouldn’t shed a tear. But he couldn’t fight the feeling as he was ushered onto the stage one last time to celebrate a career that ended more than a half century ago.

Mr. Butler played his college ball at St. Bonaventure in Olean, NY.

A reflective Butler seemed somewhat relieved that he had finally been summoned to the hallowed halls that welcomed other Steelers greats such as Franco Harris, Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, Terry Bradshaw and Mel Blount.

Doleman and Dawson were near locks to make it here. Martin wasn’t a sure shot to make it in the NFL but landed in Canton, in part, because of his dogged persistence and durability.

Martin, overcome with emotion in revealing the abuse his mother endured at the hands of his father, bared his soul to an attentive crowd. It was far more compelling than the more than 14,000 yards he covered and 90 touchdowns he scored during an 11-year career.

“This has been an incredible roll for me,” said Martin, who cried as he remembered the times he escaped death in East Pittsburgh. “I feel a little awkward and out of place. I was someone who was somewhat forced to play football. I remember my family and I sitting around during the draft when Bill Parcells called.

“I told everyone in the room, I do not want to play football,” he said, “and I don’t know if I like football enough to make a career out of it.’

Martin’s pastor told him maybe football is something he would do for all those other people.

“If he hadn’t said that to me, I probably wouldn’t have gotten out of football what I got out of it,” said Martin, the first Jet to be enshrined since quarterback Joe Namath in 1985.” I knew the love for the game wasn’t in my heart.”

Martin said he didn’t gain an appreciation for the game until he listened to Buffalo owner Ralph Wilson speech on Friday.

“Just the passion that Ralph Wilson has for the game that rubbed off on me,” he said. “I felt it was the first day I became a fan of football.”

“I was fortunate to be there for Curtis during his developmental stages,” said former coach Bill Parcells, his presenter. “My first impression was this was going to be our running back. Our first game, we handed him the ball seven straight times.”

Doleman, presented by his son, Evan Doleman, credited his Pitt coaches — Jackie Sherrill and Foge Fazio — for pointing him in the right direction.

He, too, credited his parents.

“My dad didn’t like wasting money,” Doleman said. “That alone taught me about commitment. I finished the game I signed up for.”

Dawson succeeded Hall of Famer Mike Webster in the middle of the Steelers’ offensive line.

“Very few things are the work of one person, and this is no exception,” said Dawson, who was presented by his high school coach, Steve Parker. “I want to thank the great “Iron” Mike Webster. Mike was a leader…and I tried to emulate everything he did.”

Isn't it curious how racist black left-fascists never accuse the First Harpie of trying to "act white" by straightening her hair?

I used to be an optimist. I used to think this nonsense would die out someday. I guess I'm a dumbass.

From ANI via Yahoo! India New:

US gymnast Gabby Douglas 'not planning to change hair style'

Gabby Douglas has given a thumbs up to all the attention from the likes of Little Wayne and Mariah Carey, and said that she will not be changing her hairstyle.

Except for the thing about her hair, it has all been a blast for her since she won the all-around gymnastics title.Where's this coming from? Are you kidding me? What's this about my hair?" the New York Daily News quoted her as saying.

"I gel it up, put some clips in it and put it in a bun. People shouldn't be worried about that," she said.

She says her hairstyle won't change, either, despite the surprising number of complaints and suggestions.

"Might as well get used to it," she said.

Amen to that, sister. Sometimes out of the mouths of babes...

Douglas will wear it the same way when she competes in individual events, in both the uneven bars on Monday and the beam on Tuesday.

She will wear it that way because it is practical and because that's the way she likes it.

The same way she is enjoying all the fuss, except for the hair.

"It's a little crazy, everybody coming up and saying, 'Can I have a photo of you?' or 'Look, there's Gabby'," she said.

"It's hectic, but I love it," she added.

What? You don't know what's going on? Take a look at this piece of garbage from Racson Whitless of Fox Sports, the fattest, dumbest, and most racist racist that ever racist a racist...

The root of Gabby's hair critics

Hair we go. Gabby Douglas made history Thursday night. And we, black folks, repeated our history of self-hatred.

Gabrielle Douglas (Mandatory Credit: Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports)

For the better part of two evenings, while America’s sweetheart led the U.S. to team gold and then held off two Russians for a historic individual gold in the prestigious all-around, black folks debated her hair via social media.

Comedian Chris Rock, the producer of the 2009 documentary Good Hair, had to be at home cackling and rolling a blunt. Our $9 billion-yearly obsession with straightening, lengthening, curling, coloring and Europeanizing our hair was interfering with celebrating Gabby’s total domination of the Summer Olympics' top sport.

Look, I’m an expert on inappropriate, poorly timed joking tweets, but this was a child ascending to new heights and, one leap at a time, elevating the very people ridiculing her.

“For real though nobody wanted to go to London to do Gabby Douglas’ hair.”

“Gabby Douglas is a beast. I wish her mama would do something about her hair though.”

Search “Gabby Douglas and hair” on Twitter and you’ll find all sorts of one-liners.

Some of my non-black readers may not get the seriousness of this issue, but I swear to you this is an important problem for black folks. Far too many black women’s self-esteem is tied up in their hair or the overpriced weave dangling from their heads.

That's the point, moron. It shouldn't be that important. Why do the leftist plantation owners insist on treating their black slaves like they are retarded children? Could it be to make them more docile and manageable? Could it be to keep them in chains?

“I am so passionate about this issue because it is negatively affecting us black women,” 1996 Olympic gold medalist Dominique Dawes said. “Many don’t work out or learn to swim because of their relaxed hair. It’s something that needs to be talked about because it really is costing us our health.”

WTF?????????????????

Seriously, many black women choose not to exercise because they fear sweating will ruin their recently chemically-treated hair. A big part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s push for physical activity is geared toward getting African-American girls to embrace exercise.

The folks at Big Soda will be so pleased. It's not over-indulgence in high fructose corn syrup laden drinks that make people fat, it's racial self-loathing that makes people fat.

Two black women, Alexandria Williams and Whitney Patterson, started a web site, SportyAfros.com, dedicated to educating black girls on how to exercise and take care of their hair.

Outraged by the comments she read on Twitter and Facebook, Monisha Randolph wrote a passionate blog post defending Gabby and her hair for SportyAfros.com. Titled “The Gabby Douglas Hair Controversy Unwrapped,” the posting went viral and landed SportyAfros in the Washington Post, among other places.

“The Surgeon General pointed out last year many black women will not work out because their hair is a hindrance,” Alexandria Williams said to me in an email.

WTF?????????????????

“Another focus of the site is to tackle the issue of African-American obesity in America. According to the Office of Minority Health, four out of five African-American women are overweight or obese. It is our personal mission to change this statistic by providing the tools to empower and encourage black women to lead healthy, active lifestyles.”

It all begins with a healthy perspective on their hair. It’s impossible to convey how obsessed with hair black women can be. It’s not uncommon for a black woman to spend several hundred dollars on a hair makeover and then spend the next several days sleeping upright in bed so as not to mess up her new ‘do.

All that's missing here is The Blaming Of The Black Men. You know, those lazy, shiftless, child-abandoning criminal dogs who all really want white women but have to settle settle for black chicks with straight hair unless they're athletes or rappers. [Puerto Rican girls are right out.] After white folks [and Asians - their hair is really, really, really straight] it's the fault of black men.

“I advise black women to go natural and stop relaxing your children’s hair, too,” Dawes explained. “At 35 years old I finally embraced my natural locks. It was liberating and empowering for me. I wish I would have done it sooner.”

Dawes said she never worried about her hair when she was competing as a gymnast. There was no time.

What’s weird about the Gabby controversy is that her hair seemed to be styled in the same fashion as the other contestants. I’m no expert, but her hair appeared to be pulled straight back and placed in a “bun” in the back. Many of the complainers on social media teased her for wearing too much gel.

This perfectly illustrates the problem for black women: They can’t win no matter what they do with their hair. Gabby Douglas looked like the cute little girl everyone would want as their daughter or little sister and she was still the butt of jokes.

“She’s gorgeous, Gabby Douglas is,” tennis star Serena Williams told my colleague Greg Couch. “Her hair is amazing. Doing great. And she’s freakin’ winning gold medals. She’s awesome.”

It's hair, people. Hair

Rational people don't care about their hair all that much, regardless of their cultural baggage.

Black folks need to grow the fuck up right now and start worrying about important things - like the dearth of black architects.

What do YOU see in the photos below? I see beautiful women who make me want to do stupid things while trying to impress them. [Any stupid thing they might want me to do whatsoever. Seriously. Anything.]

I DO NOT SEE women oppressed by the dominant white culture and it's enforcers, the news media and Hollyweird. I DO NOT SEE women filled with hate for their God-given physical characteristics. [See Missy Franklin's feet. Also here.]

I DO NOT SEE women who are repulsive because their hair is curlier than that of most women around me. I DO NOT SEE women enslaved by the hair of their ancestors.

If YOU see any of these things, you just might be a dumbass.

First things first: Fyodor loves the Olympic Games.

My heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in the London games who has behaved decently, honestly, and honorably, whether competitor or coach or official or volunteer or security personnel. You have brought much joy and many thrills to billions of people.

BUT there's also quite a load of crap stinking up the games...

The LAST Missy Franklin's Feet Update EVER! [I hope.]

From Yahoo's Fourth-Place Medal:

Missy Franklin has really big feet

(AP)

Missy Franklin is getting lots of attention in London and it has nothing to do with her historic medal haul at the Aquatics Centre. Well, it has something to do with it.

The 17-year-old rising high school senior told NBC on Monday that her size 13 feet have been drawing attention from athletes around the Olympics. Host Michele Beadle joked that she'd put a stop to those having fun at the expense of Missy's trotters, but Missy, in her typical bubbly demeanor, said she doesn't mind. In fact, she's proud of her big feet.

And why wouldn't she be? Those feet helped her win four gold medals in London and played a part in her becoming America's Olympic sweetheart. Her dad says they're Missy's "built-in flippers."

Sometimes you see young female athletes with abnormal size become uncomfortable in their bodies. Missy has none of that. Given how gracefully she moves in and out of the pool with her 6-foot-1 frame (remember that Call Me Maybe clip?), it's no wonder.

The video is a much needed reminder to sports fans that these athletes are still kids. [Even the older ones.] And if you are sick of this summer's musical sensation and it makes you want to vomit, just remember ...it beats the crap out of listening to The Magnetic Fields...

"I think it's helped me so much," she told ThePostGame last year. "God has blessed me with an excellent swimmer's body."

Amen to that, sister.

BTW, does anybody know if really big feet would help or hinder a zombie?

"We don't need no stinking voter ID laws!"

From The Blaze.com:

Election Watchdog: 160 Counties Have More Registered Voters Than are Actually Eligible to Vote

A nonpartisan election integrity group has sent legal notices to 160 counties across the U.S. that it says have more voters on its registration rolls than actual live, eligible voters — and thus represent potential hotbeds for election fraud, the organization told TheBlaze exclusively.

The Houston-based True the Vote said the counties may be in violation of Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act, which mandates that election officials maintain clean voter rolls by removing people who have died, moved away or are no longer eligible to vote. True the Vote is demanding each of the counties show proof of compliance or they’ll bring civil suit.

The counties in question are spread across 19 states that together account for 203 electoral college votes, including six current battleground states. Among the counties are LaSalle, Ill., which True the Vote identified as having 520 percent voter registration; Jefferson, Miss. with more than 230 percent; and Hanson, S.D. with 165 percent.

“It’s simply unacceptable for any county to have more voters on its rolls than people who are alive and eligible to vote,” True the Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht said in a statement. “Failing to maintain accurate voter registration records is a flagrant violation of Section 8 in the NVRA.”

True the Vote identified the county irregularities by matching 2010 Census data to publicly available information from the bipartisan Election Assistance Commission.

“We are deeply concerned by our discovery of voter rolls across America that contain substantial numbers of ineligible voters, possibly resulting in the disenfranchisement of eligible voters and the subversion of our nation’s electoral process,” the letters to the counties state.

True the Vote spokesman Logan Churchwell told TheBlaze the notices were sent last week. He said True the Vote expects the counties to take proper action to clean their voter rolls well before Election Day in November.

“We don’t expect these to go ignored,”  Churchwell said.

True the Vote filed a joint lawsuit against the state of Indiana with the conservative foundation Judicial Watch in June, alleging similar violations of the National Voter Registration Act.

70 Facts About Our Economy Obama Probably Doesn’t Want You To See

A stunning collection of 70 facts about the U.S. economy just posted on the web is probably not going to make it into the next campaign ad from the folks at Obama for America. However, you might want to read it.
TheBlaze has culled 10 from the list of 70 here:

You kiddies know ol' Fyodor has nothing against hot babes and Marilyn was a certifiable smoke show. It's just that there's a hot babe born every minute. [Well, maybe not quite that many nowadays. With about 400 abortions every minute around the world, the number is probably lower. I know Huge "Tiny & Limp" Hefner has been working on an in-utero hotness test for decades so the uggoes can be weeded out of the gene pool and we'll have nothing but hot blonde blue-eyed chicks in the world...just like Margaret Sanger and Hitler wanted. BTW, can you imagine how many tens of millions of gorgeous Chinese babes have been chopped up and thrown in the trash? This may be the Slave Chinese regime's greatest crime out of all the millions it has perpetrated. Chinese women are soooooooo hot.] It is time to move on, boys.

First of all, the word is SEX, not GENDER. If you are ever tempted to use the word GENDER, don't. The word is SEX! SEX! SEX! SEX! For example: "My sex is male." is correct. "My gender is male." means nothing. Look it up. What kind of sick neo-Puritan nonsense is this? Idiot left-fascists, get your blood-soaked paws off the English language.
